Question Post random trivia, starting with "Did you know that...?"

Post random trivia, starting with "Did you know that...?"

If all goes well, you might actually learn something! Here are mine

Did you know that there is no such thing as 'zero-gravity'?

It is misnomer...gravity gets weaker with distance (in fact, with the square of the distance), but it never falls all the way to zero. In point of fact, gravity goes on essentially forever.

Astronauts look like they are experiencing no gravity because they are orbiting the Earth. What they are really feeling is free-fall, since they are in reality "falling" around the Earth. In effect, they are falling toward the Earth, but moving sideways enough to continuously miss it. The net result is they follow the curvature of the Earth, always falling but never hitting.

Did you know that it is not actually the water that electrocutes you but the foreign particles in the water that contacts with the electricity...

Another one

Did you know that natural gas has no odor? The power company pipes in the smell so that it is detectable when a leak occurs.

I actually did know that and so does everyone who watched Friends... lol

I can't think of anything from the top of my head but I do like this kind of stuff.
I actually have a little booklet 'Useless Knowledge' so I think I'll grab it and see what I got...

...there's evidence to suggest the Welsh discovered America in the 12th century. A Welsh prince named Madog, an avid and experienced sailor, discovered a land across the ocean and returned, taking a number of his people to settle and never returned. When the rest of Europe arrived centuries later, they found an unusually light skinned native American tribe who spoke a dialect incredibly similar to Welsh.

Strong evidence, but not conclusive proof so I phrased it carefully.

Also, bats always turn left after leaving a cave.

That has got to be a small bathroom. I guess you have to move the toothbrush to the bedroom.

Did you know that sixty years ago, six young women programmed the ENIAC, the first all-electronic programmable computer?

And when LIFE magazine published a post-ww2 story about the ENIAC, the women were not mentioned. The article only featured information on the machine, not the engineers who made it work.

If you have 3 quarters, 4 dimes, and 4 pennies, you have $1.19. You also have the largest amount of money in coins without being able to make change for a dollar.

The numbers '172' can be found on the back of the U.S. $5 dollar bill in the bushes at the base of the Lincoln Memorial.

Cats sleep 16 to 18 hours per day.

It is believed that Shakespeare was 46 around the time that the King James Version of the Bible was written. In Psalms 46, the 46th word from the first word is shake and the 46th word from the last word is spear.
